Delhi Confidential: Reaching Out

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s suggestion, Delhi Police brass has directed all district DCPs to collaborate with local news channels and YouTubers to boost publicity of community policing and outreach programmes. At the DG-IG Conference in 2024, the PM had urged the senior police officers to explore taking help of social media influencers to spread messages of public interest far and wide. Officials say the objective is to showcase the good work done at the ground level and strengthen citizen-police engagement.

Calling The Shots

Among the many grouses of the Congress leaders in Bihar over the ticket distribution is, what they call, “unbridled powers” enjoyed by a person who is helping the party run its war room in Patna. Insiders say he is not a dyed-in-the-wool party man, but bagged the responsibility owing to his alleged proximity to a senior leader in Delhi. Bihar leaders claim that the person distributed the party’s symbol to many of the candidates despite not holding a post in the party – neither in Patna nor in Delhi.
