Delhi Confidential: ‘SP Ki Pathshala’

On the directions of Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, workers are running symbolic ‘PDA pathshalas’ (PDA schools) in villages where the UP government proposes to pair primary schools with other schools. Akhilesh has also announced that when his party comes to power, the schools will be back in their respective villages. In the day-long ‘PDA pathshalas’, SP workers taught children Hindi and English alphabets, besides numerals.

Two days after the Congress held a convention for its OBC leaders and workers at Talkatora stadium, there are whispers that it may take a while for the party to walk the talk vis-a-vis poll-bound Bihar. The party’s screening committee for Bihar, some insiders say, does not have a local OBC leader. There are talks among the OBC workers that a state like Bihar with a large OBC population should have local OBC leader(s) in the screening committee, especially when Rahul Gandhi is reaching out to the OBCs.

Comic Attack

During a stand-up comedy show at the Talkatora Stadium in Delhi on Sunday, a DIG-rank officer of AGMUT cadre was roasted by the artiste. As the officer, who is currently posted with the National Investigation Agency (NIA), sat with his family in the front row, a person came up to serve them coffee in the middle of the show, prompting the comic to crack a joke on him since beverages and eatables were otherwise strictly prohibited at the venue.
