Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury will continue as the chairman of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) as the Congress leadership has nominated him for the post once again. Chowdhury, who will head the PAC till the end of this Lok Sabha’s term next year, will have the unique distinction of heading the panel for five consecutive years. The PAC, reconstituted by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday, has several new members from the Rajya Sabha, including BJP’s Ghanshyam Tiwari and K Laxman, DMK’s Tiruchi Siva, and TMC’s Sukhendu Sekhar Ray.

The Tamil Nadu government is taking the challenge to tackle climate change very seriously. In order to ensure that maximum people understand the issue, the government has come out with a glossary of new Tamil terms related to climate. The glossary includes Tamil words for adaptation, aerosol, afforestation, air pollution, biodiversity, black carbon, blue hydrogen, carbon capture, carbon footprint, carbon neutral, desertification, and many other far more technical terms used in the climate change debate. The glossary has been reviewed by award-winning author and environmentalist Theodore Baskaran.
