Saree or salwar suit,Kanjeevaram or Murshidabadi silk. Dhoti kurta or galabandh. A host of Congressmen and women who are waiting for a call from Parliament secretariat to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Pranab Mukherjee,or Bengals Pranabda, are now weighing on the sartorial options best suited for the oath-taking ceremony of Mukherjee at the Central Hall of parliament sometime after July 19,the day election for the president is scheduled to be held. And how will Mukherjee be addressed after he attends Raisina Hills? It wont be proper to call him Pranabda in public. But what about in private interaction? Probably we will have to address him your excellency in front of other people, said Asit Mitra,an MLA. In fact, the WBPCC office in Kolkata is flooded with requests from scores of Congressmen both from his constituency Jangipur, his home town and members of his kith and kin from Kirnahar in Birbhum district, who have shown keenness to attend the swearing-in ceremony. In fact on July 9 when Mukherjee arrived in Kolkata to speak to Congress MLAs in the state Assembly,a few of the members came up with the request to arrange for passes to attend the ceremony. Of course after you enter Raisina Hills please see to it that we get an opportunity to see you there, said Ajay Dey during the interaction with UPA Presidential nominee. There are MLAs like Samar Mukherjee, senior MLA from Rotua in Malda district and a close friend of Pranab who is sure to attend the ceremony. He says he will wear a dhoti with an embroidered kurta. I am more comfortable in dhoti and I will wear that. A lot of people from the constituency are so willing to come to see their Pranabda taking the oath. But I believe it wont be possible to accommodate so many people, Mukherjee told The Indian Express. One of the senior office bearers of the state Congress committee says she has not yet made up her mind on what saree to wear. I have requested Pranabda to allow me to be present at the ceremony. I will prefer a Kanjeevaram. But let the invitation come first, the lady said. But one of the MPs,who expressed nonchalance, was Berhampore MP Adhir Chaudhury. I avoid this kind of ceremonies. I think I will be there. But the problem is very few of those who have expressed their desire to attend the ceremony can not be allowed in, he said.
