Surat police allowed a 16-year-old boy who was apprehended in theft case Wednesday to attend his class 10 board examinations.
According to police, the juvenile along with his 17-year-old brother was apprehended for allegedly stealing silver ornaments worth Rs. 4.57 lakh from a jewellery showroom at Kadodara in Surat on March 13.
According to police, the two juveniles had broke open the emergency grill and door of Monika jewellery showroom at Kadodara village early morning on March 13 . The duo allegedly stole silver ornaments worth Rs. 4.57 lakh from the showroom and escaped.
Based on a complaint filed by jewellery showroom owner Abhishek Soni, police launched a probe and on March 15 caught the two teenagers from a house in Vareli village.
Upon questioning, the two boys confessed to have committed theft at the jewellery showroom and that they had handed over jewellery to their parents, police said.
A police team reached their homes and seized the stolen silver jewellery and arrested the parents for hiding the stolen jewellery.
Surat District Superintendent of Police Hitesh Joyser said, “The 16-year-old boy is a class 10 student and presently his board examinations are going on. So we have allowed him to attend the board exams after taking permission the juvenile justice board. The other teenager who is 17-year-old has been produced before juvenile justice board and sent to the Children’s remand home. Once the board exams get finished, we will start further legal proceedings for the 16-year-old boy.”
