Wednesday’s killing comes nine days after suspected militants shot at and injured a Kashmiri Pandit in Shopian. Over the past three weeks, five other attacks were carried out targeting migrant workers in Pulwama, injuring seven of them — three from Punjab, three from Bihar and one from UP.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, J&K Police posted: “Civilian Satish Kumar Singh, a resident of Kulgam, succumbed to his injuries at hospital. Terrorists involved in this gruesome terror crime will be neutralised soon. Search to track the involved terrorists in progress.”

J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah condemned the killing. Sinha posted on Twitter that “terrorists involved in this despicable act will be brought to justice soon”. Former chief minister Omar tweeted that “there can never be a justification for attacks like these”.
