GORDHAN DHAMELIYA, the incumbent chairman of Gopal Dairy (Rajkot District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited-RDCMPUL), was elected chairman of the dairy cooperative unopposed for his second term on Wednesday.
The 64-year-old cooperative leader’s latest term will run till 2025.
At a coordination meeting of the local leaders of the BJP held earlier in the day, Mansukh Khachariya, president of the Rajkot district unit of the party, informed party leader that the state leadership of the BJP had given its mandate to elect Dhameliya chairman of Gopal Dairy for one more time.
Former minister and Rajkot District Cooperative Bank (RDCB) chairman Jayesh Radadiya, Rajkot district panchayat president Bhupat Bodar, Gujarat BJP vice-president Bharat Boghra were among those who were present at the meeting.
Consequently, at the special meeting of the board of directors of RDCMPL, Dhameliya was the only candidate to file nomination for the post of chairman and thus he was declared winner unopposed.
Dhameliya was elected chairman of Gopal Dairy for the first time in 2020. He is also a director in the RDCB and has served as president in the Rajkot district panchayat, Jetpur taluka panchayat as well as a director in the Gujarat Water Supply and Sewerage Board (GWSSB), an autonomous body of the state government.
