Zol is MCA cricketer of the year

Vijay Zol,India’s Under-19 captain was declared the best cricketer of the year at the 71st Annual General Body meeting and awards of the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) on Monday.

Vijay Zol,India’s Under-19 captain was declared the best cricketer of the year at the 71st Annual General Body meeting and awards of the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) on Monday. The Maharashtra Under-19 team,which won the Cooch Behar championship,was also felicitated and a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh was declared for the team.

Zol,who played an integral part in Maharashtra’s Cooch Behar success,was adjudged as the best cricketer of the year while Harshad Khadiwale was nominated as the best player in the senior category. Shubham Ranjane,another player whose prolific run helped the victorious team,was adjudged the best player in the junior category.

The Kishor Bhikane award for the best bowler was conferred on Samad Fallah while the Sadu Shinde trophy was won by off-spinner Jagdish Zope. Smriti Mandhana was awarded the best women cricketer and Cadence Cricket Academy won the award for the best performing club.

MCA to host Bhausaheb Nimbalkar trophy

MCA will organsie the Bhausaheb Nimbalkar trophy from September 22. Eight teams will participate in the 15-day tournament. The teams being divided into two pools of four each. Each team will play three three-day matches and the group winners will battle it out for the title. The participating teams are,MCA President XI,MCA Secretary XI,MCA A,Hyderabad Cricket Association,Madhya Pradesh,Gujarat,Vidarbha and Jammu and Kashmir.
