We-Poke

“We poke at the present epidemic of corruption that has become the way of life in India. From a small clerk in a government office to a highly qualified bureaucrat, corruption has stuck its roots deep in our lives. The dysfunctional system of the country and the double standard of the politicians just adds to the existing problem. We need to get rid of these political elites who believe in interest-oriented rather than nation oriented programmes and policies. An average citizen has become so comfortable with its existence, that they have become totally oblivious of the threat it possesses. This deep-rooted problem needs its elimination as soon as possible. And while the civic society is trying to find its own amidst various ‘anti -corruption’ voices that are blaring around,a constant sphere of confusion seems to have spread. I do not know how well the Indian youth understands the Lokpal Bill, nor am I sure whether they want to know. A month back it was good to see thousands come out and support Anna Hazare’s movement. I think it showed that at some level we are all affected by whatever is happening and want a change. But the extent to which corruption has spread,it doesn’t look like anything can happen till we all contribute at personal levels. It’s time that we stopped looking at what is shown to us. It’s time to get involved and get empowered. ”
