Cypress Sports Foundation and Friends XI registered wins against their respective opponents in the Rangachar Memorial veterans cricket tournament at the NCL Ground on Tuesday.
CSF defeated Western Pune Cricket Association by 37 runs,said a press note issued here.
CSF batted first and put up a total of 128 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Vasant Mudholkar top-scored with an unbeaten 25 while Rajendra Gangote gave him good support with 24 runs of his own.
For WPCA,Shekhar Dalmiya was the pick of the bowlers,scalping two wickets for 26 runs. In reply,WPCA managed to score just 91 runs before being bowled out in 18 overs. Rohit Datta top-scored with 29 runs.
For CSF,Nitin Patil was the strike bowler,picking three wickets for 10 runs. Nandan Thaku picked up two wickets.
In the second match of the day,Friends XI beat NCL by 30 runs.
Battingfirst,they scored a total of 146 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs. Rajesh Waghela top scored with 50 runs while Sunil Kumbharkar supported him well with 37 runs.
In reply,NCL managed to score only 116 runs beforer being bowled out in 19.4 overs.
Kannan Rangaswamy top scored with 55 runs while Satish Jawale and Ganesh Waghole took a couple of wickets for Friends XI to seal the game in their favour.
