Five out of the nine candidates, from whom the duo took bribe, are residents of Sangamner and Ahmednagar. Attar also hails from Sangamner. It is necessary for the police to take the duo to these places for investigations.

During the investigations,Gaikwad told that since Attar was a section officer (Administration),he looked after the various aspects relating to the exams. So,he is the only one who had made some alterations to documents, saved the increased marks of the candidates and sent the results for them to be announced.
