Over 160 first year engineering students in two colleges affiliated to the University of Pune on Tuesday found that they were marked failed in engineering mechanics subjects as marks of the online examination of the subject were not added in the marksheet. The varsity has assured to give the corrected version in two days.
In a first of its kind initiative this year, the varsity conducted online examination for two subjects of first year engineering engineering mechanics and basic electronics engineering. The online papers for both the subjects were of 50 marks. There were 50-mark theory papers too for the two subjects. For passing in the subject, marks secured in theory and online examinations were to be added.
However, when the students of Shivnagar Vidya Prasarak College of Engineering in Baramati received the results on Tuesday, they were amazed to see only 12-13 marks out of 100 in engineering mechanics subject. Around 80 students in the college had the same experience and as a result they were shown failed in the subject. We are sure that our marks of online examination have not been calculated. We have complained about it to the principal, said a student.
Principal of the college A S Jambhale confirmed of receiving complaints. I have prepared a letter to look into the matter and will send it to the varsity on Wednesday, he said. R S Talware, member of core committee that conducted online examination, admitted that the marks of online examination of the two colleges were not added. The problem was due to a technical snag. We have corrected the problem and students will get the marks, he said. When contacted, controller of examination Shivaji Ahire,There is no complaint regarding online examination of engineering stream.
