(Photo: X/@@OfficeofUT)Launching his party’s campaign from Kolhapur on Tuesday, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray made “five guarantees” to the voters, while asking the people to point out if he made any mistake when he was the chief minister for two and half years.
”The incubment Maharashtra Government is giving free education to girls.. When the Maha Vikas Aghadi comes to power, even boys will get free education. Both boys and girls are the pillars of a family. And that is why we have decided to provide free education to boys as well,” the Sena chief said at a rally in Kolhapur this morning.
The Sena chief said when the MVA comes to power, it will hold a recruitment drive from women police personnel so as to make life easier for women complainants. ”When women go to police stations, they have no clue where to launch the complaint. And therefore when the MVA comes to power, we will launch a drive to recruit more women personnel. We will start police stations where women will be senior-most officers,” he said.
In Mumbai, Thackeray said they plan to cancel the projects of Adani Group in Dharavi. “Instead, we will ensure that the residents of Dharavi start their business in their area and get affordable houses as well,” he said. Thackeray said people from rural areas should come to Mumbai. “Mumbai belongs to them, Mumbai belongs to Marathi manoos… The Marathi manoos has shed blood for the sake of Mumbai. When the MVA comes to power, we will provide affordable houses to the sons of the soil,” he said.
Thackeray said MVA will ensure farmers get a reasonable price for their produce. “If the BJP had not brought our government down, we would have waived off the loans of farmers. When we return to power, we will ensure that farmers get loan waivers as well as good prices for their produce,” he said.
The Sena chief said when MVA was in power, the price of essential goods were stable. ”When we return to power, we will ensure that prices of essentials goods remain stable,” he said.
Crticising the two-and-a-half year tenure of the Mahayuti Government, Thackeray said, “The Mahayuti Government is neck deep in corruption. They have spared nothing… In the name of launching projects, they have helped contractors make crores. They are doling out Rs 1,500 to women… Can anyone run their homes with Rs 1500?” He asked.
Thackeray said, “Tell me what mistake I made when I was the chief minister. Despite doing all the work, our government was brought down. When I was the chief minister, no one dared to cause any harm to us. They brought the government down because they wanted to loot Maharashtra and take every thing to Gujarat.”
Urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stay put in Maharashtra, Thackeray said, “I want to urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Home Minister Amit Shah to stay in Maharashtra for the next 15 days along with national leaders. After the defeat, they should then return,” he said.
After addressing the rally in Kolhapur, Uddhav held another one in Konkan’s Ratnagiri to campaign for party candidate Bal Mane and Rajan Salvi on Tuesday evening.
He also announced that once the MVA comes to power, the plan of a petrochemical refinery at Barsu-Solgaon in Rajapur will be scrapped. He also alleged that BJP was sending all good projects to Gujarat and the harmful projects to Maharashtra. “They took away everything to Gujarat, be it Tata airbus project or other industries which were good and sending projects like refineries to Konkan. They are imposing such projects on the people of Konkan but we will not allow it. Such projects will be scrapped,” Uddhav announced, adding that the assembly polls will decide whether Shivaji’s followers would rule the state or goons.
Speaking about the Sena versus Sena case which is scheduled to be heard on November 8 Uddhav said, “It will be known on November 8 if the judiciary can see the truth or not. I am telling the judge with folded hands that we have been seeking justice for two and a half years. If people start breaking political parties like this, then citizens will not have faith in democracy. This is the election that will decide whether Maharashtra will be ruled by the followers of Shivaji or by goons.”
