Over 175 tennis coaches from across Maharashtra to attend event
Over 175 tennis coaches from all over the state attended the first-ever Maharashtra Coaches Tennis workshop at the Balewadi Tennis complex in the city that got underway on Saturday.
The workshop was organised by the MSLTA in its endeavor to raise the level of tennis in Maharashtra and to widen the knowledge of tennis coaches,tennis professionals,trainers and those who contribute to tennis coaching in their own way,stated a release.
It was inaugurated by Dough Mccardy (USA),ITF development officer and trainer of the Indian tennis,Hockey and Asian Cricket Council teams Vece Paes along with Bhalchandra Bhagwat ,Vice President, MSLTA.
Speaking on the occasion,Mccardy praised the initiative of the MSLTA and said that training the trainers was an important aspect in growth of any sport ,with empowering the coaches with knowledge. The state is bound to produce international stars very soon,he said.
The two-day workshop will help coaches from the state stay abreast with happenings in world tennis and will help enlarge their vision with new techniques in the game. The Play and Stay programme has been introduced by the ITF to impart Physical Training for beginners to advanced players .
Other speakers at the workshop included Davis Cup Coach Nandan Bal,and Level III coaches Hemant Bendrey,Radhika Tulpule and Manoj Vaidya.
