The Central Bureau of Investigation Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBI-ACB) on Wednesday arrested two employees of Ammunition Factory Khadki (AFK) for allegedly accepting Rs 4,000 bribe from a Chinese food stall owner.

The Central Bureau of Investigation Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBI-ACB) on Wednesday arrested two employees of Ammunition Factory Khadki (AFK) for allegedly accepting Rs 4,000 bribe from a Chinese food stall owner.

The two employees are Ashok Kamble, junior works engineer (Y and E section),and Vikas Pardeshi, guard at AFK security office.

Ashok Krishnan Kumar Yadav, owner of Chain Tour food stall that sells food opposite AFK,had filed a written complaint. According to CBI’s remand application,Yadav has been running the food stall since 2002. In November 2011,his stall was seized by Kamble and others for allegedly violating lease rules.

According to police inspector (CBI) D K Bali,“Complainant Yadav met Kamble a number of times to get his food stall back after depositing the fine. On October 6,2012,Kamble demanded Rs 4,000 as bribe for releasing his food stall and asked him to pay the money to guard Pardeshi. He said he would release the stall after issuing an official receipt of approximately Rs 300 to the complainant.”

Yadav had lodged the complaint on Wednesday and the demand of bribe was verified by contacting Kamble on his mobile phone. Pardeshi was caught red-handed at his residence on Wednesday while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 4,000 and the amount was recovered from him in the presence of witnesses.

The CBI officials produced Kamble and Pardeshi before CBI special judge D R Mahajan. CBI special public prosecutor Vivek Saxena sought five-day CBI custody for them. Saxena told the court that many stalls were taken away during the drive and some were still lying with them in their office. “In some cases, they have given back the stalls after taking bribe, causing loss to their department,” he said.

“The CBI also wanted to investigate about involvement of more persons and take their thumb impressions, voice specimen and finger prints of both the accused,” the CBI remand application stated.
