Two arrested in Rs 1-crore heist at Nigdi jewellery shop
Around one-and-half years after jewellery worth over Rs 1 crore was stolen from Shree Vishal Jewellers in Nigdi,a Special Investigation team (SIT) from Pune polices crime branch has arrested two persons from Rajasthan and has recovered booty worth Rs 79 lakh from them.

The complaint was registered by Subhash Kantilal Sonigara (39),the co-owner of the shop.
Police said the burglars had entered the multi-storeyed jewellery shop by making a hole in the wall by removing bricks on the second floor of the complex. The arrested suspects have been identified as Jitendrasinha Devda (25),a resident of Shivganj in Sirohi district and Padamsingh Kumpavat (39),a resident of Sojat in Pali district.
The arrests were made following a tip off from the informers of SIT inspector Sunil Pawar. Deputy commissioner of police Rajesh Bansode said,We got the leads after we had arrested a person by the name of Mahendrasingh in another robbery case. Based on the information,our team arrested Jitendrasinha from Sukhsagarnagar in Pune where he had opened a jewellery shop and other suspect from Pali,where had opened a country made liquor shop. Both the suspects have been remanded in police custody till Wednesday.
Police have recovered 2.4 kg of gold ornaments,19 kg of silver ornaments and utensils.
Explaining the modus operandi,Bansode said,Jitendrasinha used to work at Shree Vishal Jewellers about six months before the heist. For six days they were making a hole in the wall by removing bricks. He also has another case registered against him at Andheri police station for theft of ornaments worth Rs 97 lakh.
Two cops injured in hit-and-run
Two police constables were injured on Monday after a speeding car hit them while they were on duty near Kumbharves Chowk at 8.45 pm. The driver of the car is yet to be arrested.
According to the information given by Faraskhana police,the suspect,Mangesh Hande (35),a resident of Rajugurunagar,was on his way to Kumbharves Chowk from Pawale Chowk when he hit the bike constable Salim Musa Shaikh was riding.
Constable Ismail Shaikh,who was riding pillion,was also injured.
