By the final day of the Pune edition of the Bacardi NH7 Weekender,the audience was in a party mood despite the unusually warm day. It began with a performance by Func,the alter-ego of Pentagram guitarist Randolph Correla at the Breezer Dub Station,and Bone Broke,a set by Dinkar Dwivedi and #bombay scenesters at the Red Bull Tour Bus. As the day progressed,more acts such as The Koniac Net,musician David Abrahams stage name,Delhi-based multi-instrumentalist Dhruv Vishwnath,who describes himself as a solo percussive acoustic guitarist who sings as well,and the Prateek Kuhad Collective.
Diksha Kumar,who had travelled from Mumbai for the weekend gigs,said,The mood has changed over the last two days. People are more energetic today. Everyone seems to be in a mood to let their hair down. In keeping with the mood,most of the
buckets,used to serve the large-sized alcohol-based drinks,were sold out at all the bars on ground.
Makin Bacons stall,which promised a wide range of delicacies served,topped or garnished with fresh bacon,witnessed quite a stampede too. But many hungry diners were seen walking out empty-handed as the owner of the joint,Roycin DSouza,announced that they were all out of bacon. This has happened three days in a row, grumbled a diner as he walked out. “This was one of the things I was looking forward to at the festival, he added.
Evening saw an almost full house for the set by Vir Das Alien Chutney at MTS Other Stage. Das,who convulsed the audience with his takes on a wide variety of subjects such as religion,politics and girlfriends,wrote an ode describing the difference between Mumbai girls and Delhi girls by the quantity of their make-up and their grasp on English.
The last performance at the Dewarists stage was by the Weekenders veteran,Papon and the East India Company. Singer-songwriter Angaraag Mahanta,who goes by his stage name Papon,sang hit numbers such as Banao Banao and an Assamese folk song based on the festival of Bihu. He also gave a first-ever performance of several numbers from the latest edition of Coke Studio. Even though it rained during the performance,most of the audience did not seem to mind and were even seen enjoying the light shower.
