In a bid to improve urban infrastructure and ensure safer roads during the monsoon, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has conducted a digital training programme for 157 of its engineers.
The session focused on the use of the newly developed “Pothole Management App” and advanced pothole repair techniques, including water-resistant technologies with demonstration of the app for real-time complaint tracking and resolution. Overview of the automated response systems for timely complaint redressal and planning and coordination strategies between roads, water supply, and drainage departments.
Held at Auto Cluster in Chinchwad, the one-day training saw participation from engineers across departments such as civil works, water supply, drainage, and transportation. Present at the session were City Engineer Makarand Nikam, Joint City Engineers Devanna Gattuwar and Bapusaheb Gaikwad, along with executive, deputy, and junior engineers, and engineering assistants.
PCMC, in collaboration with Infra Projects India Pvt. Ltd., has developed the Pothole Management App as part of its larger digital governance push. This app is expected to significantly enhance road safety and improve the response time of municipal maintenance teams, officials said.
The training programme is aimed to equip field engineers with detailed know-how of the system, so they can act promptly on citizen complaints and manage coordination across departments. The training also covered technical insights on using water-resistant materials for pothole filling, rapid response mechanisms, and inter-departmental communication, officials said.
The session was conducted by expert consultant Vikas Thakar, with the opening address delivered by Assistant Engineer Ashlesh Chavan.
