Spirituality and management skills must go hand-in-hand for global leadership and 21st century managerial lifestyle, Tripura Governor Dr D Y Patil said here recently.
He was speaking during the inaugural function of a national conference on global management-cultural challenges in Akurdi.
DY Patil Institute of Management Studies and DY Patil Pratishthan had jointly organised the conference.
More than 200 participants from Europe,USA,Japan,Middle East and so on deliberated on their experiences of cross-cultural challenges during their tenure as senior executives in different parts of the world,said a release.
After considering the focal point of each of the talks given by more than 50 high profile executives,the conference arrived at the conclusion that for successful global leadership,the critical study of different cultures and lifestyles is essential,it added.
Hence,it is the need of the hour to modify management educational systems and training in the corporate world,giving more thrust to the issue of globalisation and international corporate leadership,the release said.
Hrishikesh Mafatlal,viice-chairman,CEO Mafatlal Group of Industries,Arvind Mafatlal Group,Mukesh Malhotra,president MCCIA,Satej Patil,Kolhapur MLA were among the 250 delegates who attended and shared their experiences at the meet.
LM Patnaik,vice-chancellor,Defence Institute of Advanced Technology,Pune,was the chief guest at the valedictory function.
In his address,he emphasised on the deep study of cultural and socioeconomic issues as an essential area for the new generation of managers.
