Tilak’s anniversary observed

The Tilak Maharashtra University jointly with Lokmanya Tilak Death Anniversary Council observed the 89th death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak on July 8. The chief guest for the occasion was Mayor Rajlaxmi Bhosale. Others present for the occasion included Deepak Tilak vice-chancellor of Tilak Maharashtra University,Umesh Keskar,Registrar,Corporator Ajit Apte and Kesari Trustee Rohit Tilak. Deepak Tilak in his introductory speech spoke about the concept of national education and said that it was only through the assimilation of old and new knowledge that there would be national education in its truest sense. This was followed by the Prize distribution ceremony of the Interschool Lokmanya Tilak Elocution Competitions that was organised by the institutions on July 1 and 2. In addition to this Sharayu Sonawale,chairperson of Vidya Prasarak Mandal announced that a new book written on the life of Lokmanya Tilak by Deepak Tilak would soon be distributed in all schools.
