Pune police arrested three persons who along with their accomplices allegedly drugged and robbed tourist car drivers. The suspects also prepared bogus documents of four-wheeler vehicles.
Those arrested have been identified as Prasad alias Banti Dnyaneshwar Adak (23) of Ambegaon,Rakesh Ashok Padwal (21) of Kasba Peth,Rama Shankar Fulmali of Ambegaon.
Police said a tourist car driver,Uttam Genu Lokhande of Pimpri,had lodged a complaint at Faraskhana police station. Four passengers had hired Lokhande’s car for going to Shirdi from Kasba Peth on April 8. On the way,they gave Lokhande a cold drink laced with sedatives. The passengers then threw him out of the car at Rajguru Nagar and took off with the car. Lokhande lodged the police complaint on April 15.
The crime branch has started a parallel investigation in this case. On a tip-off,a crime branch team nabbed Adak on April 20. Padwal was arrested on April 23 and Fulmali on April 27. Police recovered the car from the suspects and have launched search for one more accomplice Vilas Adak of Ambegaon involved in the crime.
Investigations revealed Padwal prepared bogus documents of a four wheeler. He purchased the four wheeler from one Yusuf Shaikh of Kondhwa. But he later told Yusuf it was stolen. Yusuf lodged a vehicle theft complaint at Faraskhana police station. Police have recovered the vehicle from Padwal.
