On Friday evening,the 400 odd people gathered at the Hyatt Regency could hardly stop laughing. The hotel and Standard Chartered Priority Banking hosted Ashvin Gidwanis smash hit comedy,History of India: VIR-itten starring one of the country’s best stand-up comedians – Vir Das. Gadi Hassin,GM,Hyatt regency kickstarted the evening with his easy humour after which Vir Das took hold of the stage for a good couple of hours. Das chronologically narrated major events in history from the time of the vedas to present times. From the Mughal kings to the British rule in India,from Bollywood stars to our politicians,Das spared nobody! A twisted,funny,out of the box account of our country’s history that had elders and youngsters rolling on the floor laughing,well almost! The invitees included Shefali and Sanjiv Bajaj,Kimmy and Shantanu Sheorey,Subhadra and Pradeep Rathi,Ritu and Arun Nathani,Ritu Kochar,Reshma and Tarun Sharma,Luc and Soumya Didon,Mina and Chandrakant Sanghvi,Mukesh and Akshay Malhotra. Post the show,guests were treated to a lavish dinner of a variety of cuisines put together by executive chef Hemant Mehta.

The sky is where it all starts for Air Dogs,a new television show on Discovery Turbo. Each episode will have the fastest,the oldest and the most unusual planes soaring up in the sky. Air force pilot Captain Robert J Reichert aka ‘Rooster’ and film-maker Mark Miller will take their love for aviation to extreme levels. Whether mummifying a fighter jet,testing their skills in a Red Bull racer,flying loops with the Snowbirds,attempting landing on a moving RV or negotiating their way into the cockpit of a Lancair P IV,the duo will provide adrenaline-fuelled entertainment. The show will be aired on Tuesdays at 9.30 pm.
