The small wonder: Many dreams ready to travel through city roads

For some it’s the realisation of a dream and for others it’s just a vehicle.

For some it’s the realisation of a dream and for others it’s just a vehicle. The mixed population of ‘Nanoites’ in Pune who have made their bookings and have purchased the forms is unified though in saying that they expect to get their Nano as soon as possible.

Take for example Vikas Bhosale or Sachin Kope, both employees of Kalyani Steel, who just completed the preliminarily enquiries about their dream car from one of the Nano showrooms and wants to feel the steering wheel,if not a test drive before booking the vehicle.

“I hope that I will get lucky in the random selection of one lakh customers but before booking the car I want to know all about the vehicle. I own a two-wheeler but owning a car is something different. Nano is a boon for the middle class and if the car could have been delivered to every one who book it then it would have been better, said 26-year-old Bhosale who wants to travel in his own car with his wife and child.

Likewise his colleague Kope is also going to book the vehicle and feels that the down payment is much less than that of buying a two-wheeler. “ I am looking forward to buy the AC version of the car,” said Kopem a sole breadwinner of family of five.

But for Shyamili Sanyal,a housewife who booked a Nano on Friday from the BU Bhandari Automobile in Camp it’s a gift for her daughter pursuing her engineering. “We already have a car and I am buying Nano for my daughter and hope to get it delivered on time. I haven’t seen the inside of the car but I am told that it is spacious,” she said. For her husband P.K Sanyal working with Axix bank,it is the trust for an Indian product that prompt him to book the car without seeing it. “ So much research and development has gone in the making of Nano,so I feel that I can trust the company. And with all the options they are offering the price advantage is an attraction,” said Sanyal. But for Nishant Agalkar,a college student, who is booking the car from his pocket money it’s the style and the craze attached to Nano that made him go for the car.

“Remember the scene when Reliance launched the mobile phones for Rs 500 every one went after that. I am going to buy a Nano since it is stylish and as I can afford it by saving the pocket money,” said the 23-year-old. In keeping with the trend so far Nano dealers across the city also said that people from mixed backgrounds and different age groups came forward to book the car.
