Danseuse Mansi Kale talks about her love for dancing and her upcoming Aarangetram
As a child when her mother introduced her to the world of Bharatnatyam,Manasi Kale little knew that it would become the most important part of her life. Since the age of seven,Kale zealously has been learning the nuances of the classical dance under the guidance of Pradnya Agasti and later Bharat Natyam exponent Sucheta Chapekarand. She will be performing her Arangetram, the debut public performance by a Bharatnatyam student,on September 16 at the Bal Shikshan Mandir’s M.C.S. auditorium. Reiterating her love for the dance form she says,I have always wanted to be a Bharatnatyam dancer. I have been meticulously practicing with my musicians for the performance for the whole of last month. This being my first solo attempt,Im all tensed and excited.
Speaking on her routine,Kale says,First I had to strengthen my basics only then could I attempt the Rangaprabesham. One needs to mathematically maintain a routine in order to learn something completely, she says. When not dancing Kale can be found on the campus of Garware College where she is studying science at the intermediate level. Talking about hobbies and leisure she says,Just like any other person,I watch television and listen to music (old Hindi classics preferably),but dance gives me a certain satisfaction which nothing else can. Kale expresses gratitude towards her parents as well. They have always supported me,especially my mother,0who had introduced me to Bharatnatyam.
