Thawani,Raina win U-18 crowns

After a thrilling under-16 final encounter,the under-18 finals of the Rupee Cooperative Cup Om Dalvi Memorial National Ranking tennis Championships turned out to be tame encounters as both Tushal Thawani and Ankita Raina breezed past their opponents.

After a thrilling under-16 final encounter,the under-18 finals of the Rupee Cooperative Cup Om Dalvi Memorial National Ranking tennis Championships turned out to be tame encounters as both Tushal Thawani and Ankita Raina breezed past their opponents. Both the matches took place at the PYC Hindu Gymkhana Tennis courts on Saturday.

Junior India player Ankita Raina showed that she was a cut above her opponent Manasi Fulzele beating her in straight sets 6-0,6-0.

Raina dominated the entire game and did not put a foot wrong. It was a day that her serves,backhand and forehand were accurate and Fulzele had absolutely no answer.

In the Boy’s final,Adwait Sadwilkar offered some resistance but was no match for Tushal Thawani’s brilliance on court.

Thawani won the match 6-4,6-2 and went on to lift the title. Sadwilkar gave a tough fight in the first set. The second set was easier for Thawani and he wrapped up the match in style.
