An alert software engineer and his colleague chased and nabbed a youth who allegedly attempted to snatch a gold chain from a girl who had come to the GNS Technology Private Limited Company in Shukrawar Peth for an interview on Tuesday afternoon.

Netrangi Chandrakant Khedekar lodged a complaint at Khadak police station and Datta Baburao Dombale (21),resident of Ghorpade Peth,was arrested under Section 392 of IPC.

According to the police,Netrangi who did her graduation in computer applications from a city-based college had come to the GNS Technology Private Limited Company,located in Mehta Towers on Tilak Road,Shukrawar Peth,for an interview.

She was waiting in the parking area when Dombale,who was speaking on a cellphone,walked towards her and tried to snatch her chain worth Rs 13,000.

Netrangi raised an alarm and the suspect fled the spot. However,software techie Prashant Pandharinath Apte (33),a resident of Anand Nagar on Sinhagad Road,and his colleague Swapnil Shankar Kanna,of Chandan Nagar in Kharadi,chased Dombale and nabbed him.
