An IT professional in Pune has been booked on charges of assault or using criminal force on a woman with the intent of outraging her modesty after his colleague lodged a complaint, accusing him of molesting her. The alleged incident took place in the parking lot of the company in the early hours of Friday, the police said, adding that they have yet to arrest the accused as the investigation is on. As per the First Information Report (FIR), the 38-year-old woman said that on Friday morning, her team leader asked her to come with him, saying he wanted to speak to her. He allegedly took her to the company’s parking lot and made her sit in his car. He then allegedly sought sexual favours from her, assuring her that he would give her a promotion and a salary hike, according to the FIR. The woman said she refused, but he allegedly kissed her forcibly and molested her. The woman approached the police, following which the accused was booked under Section 74 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). “The accused has not been arrested yet. An FIR has been registered as per the woman’s complaint, and a probe is on,” the investigating officer said.
