State digital university model to reach Rajasthan

The University of Rajasthan will replicate the digital university model of Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Ltd for the benefit of around five lakh students of distance learning courses.

The University of Rajasthan will replicate the digital university model of Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Ltd (MKCL) for the benefit of around five lakh students of distance learning courses. It will not only help the varsity administration interact with students in a better way but will also minimise the paper work as all processes will be online.

The MKCL,head-quartered in the city, has already implemented the digital university project in 10 universities in the state.

So far, around 17 lakh students have been benefited from this project in the state with the elimination of repetitive paper work in processes such as admissions, filling examination forms and accessing results.

“A three-member delegation of the University of Rajasthan, including varsity distance education department head Dr Somdev, visited the MKCL facility during the All-India Vice Chancellors’ Conference held last month to know more about the digital university model. They interacted with the MKCL officials and even some of the students benefited by the model,” MKCL managing director Vivek Sawant said.

“The varsity officials liked the idea and sent their officials to the Pune office again last week to finalise the collaboration with us for adopting the digital university model. As we are finalising the formalities,MKCL officials have already gone to Jaipur to set up the facility.”

He said the digital university model gave a personalised log-in to students once they enter a college in the first year, which last till they pass out. “Students get various services such as e-learning services, personalised exam schedules,time-tables,pre-filled examination forms, hall tickets and application forms for examinations and convocation online.”

He added,“Though the varsity wanted to implement the model immediately,it will take some time to gather the data of students. The MKCL will set up a call centre in Jaipur that will address the queries of students.”
