State cabinet approves Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar to Saswad Road metro routes
The route would be under the proposed metro route from Khadakwasla to Kharadi via Hadapsar to be developed in Phase two of Pune metro. The total length of the two routes is 16 km and will have 14 elevated stations.
The Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor line will have stations at Hadapsar Phata, Hadapsar Bus Depot, Akashwani- Hadapsar, Laxmi Colony, Stad Farm, Manjari Phata, Draksha Baug, Toll Naka, Wak Vasti and Loni Kalbhor.
The Cabinet Infrastructure committee of Maharashtra government on Tuesday approved new metro rail routes from Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar to Saswad Road railway station to be developed at a cost of Rs 5,704 crore.
“The committee under the chairmanship of Devendra Fadanavis approved the proposal in the Mumbai meeting,” said deputy chief and Pune Guardian minister minister Ajit Pawar. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had approved the proposal in February this year which has then been extended to the state government for approval the state Infrastructure committee would now table in the state cabinet for approval and forward it to the union government for the final nod for implementation.
The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (Maha-Metro) implementing the Pune metro rail project had submitted its detailed project report (DPR) to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) of the two new routes from Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar to Saswad road.

“The metro routes will ease road traffic on Pune-Solapur road and discourage citizens from using private vehicles to commute in Pune city. It will provide safe and faster commuting to citizens,” said Pawar.
The two routes will provide connectivity to and from Hadapsar, Phursungi, Loni Kalbhor and Saswad which is witnessing rapid urbanisation, he said it will help in reducing air pollution along with travel time of commuters.
“The DPR for the two new routes is being approved on the condition that the PMC will not give a guarantee to repay the loan for implementing the project. The Pune civic body would only have an agreement for Rs 3.6 crore for acquisition of land for the project,” said the civic officer of PMC.

As per the DPR, the proposed metro route from Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor will be of 11.35 km and have ten metro stations while the Hadapsar to Saswad Road railway station will be 5.57 km long with four metro stations. 20 percent of the total estimated cost of the project would be contributed by the state and union government each while 60 percent will be raised through a loan.
“The Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar to Saswad road railway station sections are spur lines of Kharadi via Hadapsar and Swargate to Khadakwasla corridor which have already been approved by the state government,” said Atul Gadgil, Director of Pune Metro rail.
The Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor line will have stations at Hadapsar Phata, Hadapsar Bus Depot, Akashwani- Hadapsar, Laxmi Colony, Stad Farm, Manjari Phata, Draksha Baug, Toll Naka, Wak Vasti and Loni Kalbhor. The Hadapsar Bus Depot to Saswad Road Railway Station will have stations at Hadapsar Gliding Club, Fursungi IT Park, Sulabh Garden and Saswad Road Railway Station.
