St Patrick’s High School,Pune beat Mount Carmel High School,Pune in Minoo Golakari Inter School Hockey Tournament at the SRPF Grounds,Wanawadi on Friday.

St Patrick’s started the game well and nearly took the lead when Shahista Pirjade’s shot from an Aiswarya Inagwle pass was saved by the Mount Carmel goalkeeper,Monalisa Monterio. As the possession continuously changed hands,no team looked in control of the game. Ruhi Reddy’s good pass created an opening for Priyanka Badhe, whose shot was close to giving Mount Carmel the lead. Three minutes on,Priyanka Shinde’s shot, off a Prachi Girolla pass, was off target as Mount Carmel breathed a sigh of relief. A break by Carmel,on 20 minutes, saw Badhe come close to scoring after receiving a pass from Gauri Shimalkar. With only three minutes to go for the half time interval,Badhe missed another chance when Sonali Chavan cut inside to deliver a decent pass to the striker. The referee soon blew for half time and the score was 0-0.

The second half started with both the teams pushing to get their name on the score sheet. A move that started with Anjali Chittiar playing a pass to Neha Shinde, who found Pirjade, resulted in a goal with Pirjade breaking the dead lock to put St. Patrick’s in the lead. St. Patrick’s changed their formation and went defensive in order to protect their one goal lead. An impressive defensive partnership of Prachi Gangurde,Aishwarya Tupe and Vaishali Choudhary kept Mount Carmel strikers out as St. Patrick’s High School,Pune went on to win the game 1-0.
