Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a data science platform to offer a one-year postgraduate diploma in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning this academic year, in line with the National Education Policy 2020 objectives.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between SPPU and Rubiscape Private Limited, a data science platform that will develop the course syllabus and train faculty to deliver the program.

The advanced curriculum has been jointly designed with the Department of Technology, SPPU keeping in mind the objectives of the NEP2020. This curriculum, included in the MoU, has been reviewed and approved.

The highlight of the program will be developing an advanced Artificial Intelligence-Data Science Application Lab at the Department of Technology of SPPU.

“This lab will offer the curriculum designed for AI and machine learning along with practice in the hands-on lab for students and faculty so that they learn not only theory and concepts but also have access to a toolset where they can practice and develop their own indigenised solutions and innovations,” Prashant Pansare, founder and CEO of Rubiscape India, told the Indian Express.

“Tools which are otherwise very expensive and complex to install and run will be made available by us at the AI-DS Application Lab for students to access.”

The course will have three components, theory, practical, and tool training. It will emphasise building capsule projects and solution development, he said.
