Speeding ahead

Conceived by a group of friends last September,its members Arjun Mendhi,Mohammed Muneem,Hardik Vaghela,Rahul Majumdar,Jatin Kale and Anant Joshi are other wise either working professionals or students. “We have several years of experience playing individually as well as a part of other bands. From heavy metal to Hindi film music we have gone through all the genres. However it was the urge to make our own music and play on serious notes that we began together,” adds Mendhi,who besides teaching guitar,is also penning down a book on music theory for guitar. The lyrics by Muneem,a native of Srinagar,are usually in Urdu communicating some observant views. “I have seen a lot of turmoil In Kashmir,and my poetry is a repercussion of it. It comes naturally even as I walk on the streets. From politics to the plight of the youth we try and reproduce the voice of the people. In eventuality peace is the final word. Besides,communicating in Urdu makes it appealing and people are keen to understand our say,” he adds.

While Kale is the lead Guitarist,Vaghela is on keyboards Majumdar on bass guitars who is also trained in Hindustani classical music,and Joshi on drums. The group recently performed at Indian School and Business Media’s annual event,Forza. With plans of an album ahead Mendhi says,“Incidents like the 26/11 terror provoked us to express the exasperation through music. However as we continue to play,we are talking to several proficients to come up with some fresh and thought provoking compilations by the end of this year.”
