If legal jargons are making it difficult for you to understand laws and Acts, soon posters will help you understand them.
Students of Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya (College of Applied Arts) are in the process of making posters to simplify laws for the layman. The Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA)-Pune has tied-up with the college to arrange an exhibition of about 50 posters during the Lok Nyayalaya to be held in the Pune District Court,Shivajinagar on Saturday.
One of the functions of MSLSA is to create legal awareness. However, literacy camps and written pamphlets fail to have an affect on the illiterate. Therefore,we have decided to put forth the gist of important acts like Domestic Violence Act,Consumer Rights (Protection) Act and so on in pictorial form, said Judge R H Mohammad, member secretary,MSLSA -Pune.
A total of 250 students from the third and fifth year of Bachelor of Fine Arts have been given themes based on various Acts to work on. We will select the 50 best posters and hand it over to the MSLSA. The posters will be ready by Thursday, said Gajaraj Chavan, principal of Abhinav College. An exhibition of the posters will be put up during the Lok Nyayalaya on Saturday. Around 10,000 criminal and civil cases are expected to be heard in this Lok Nyayalaya.
Meanwhile,a mobile court housed in a van along with a judge, lawyer, social worker and law student meant for settling of cases at the taluka places was flagged off by district judge Madan Joshi at the Pune district court on Monday.
The van will visit the talukas in Pune till July 31 as part of the justice on wheels programme. According to tentative schedule,it will hold Lok Adalats between 10 am and 3.30 pm followed by seminars and awareness programmes on the activities of MSLSA.
