Celebrity hairstylist Aalim Hakim has made his debut on the small screen with a show called Style Inc. with Aaalim Hakim.
Gone are the days when a haircut meant a routine visit to the local barber,stationing yourself in the seat without a word and finding your way out after a neat trim. The barber is extinct. Enter the hairdresser,who has given the job a touch of glamour. Now,celebrity hairstylist Aalim Hakims debut show on television Style Inc. with Aalim Hakim proves the power of the scissors in star style.
Talking about the five-episode series that is being aired on TLC from March 8,the stylist says he had no inhibitions about facing the camera. On the show,Hakim works with the hearthrobs of Bollywood to give them their super-star look. I worked with Shahid Kapoor,Ajay Devgn,Saif Ali Khan,Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor. I take my audience to green rooms to witness transformations that they didnt think were possible. It also reveals the relationship of trust between an actor and his hairstylist, he says,adding that he jumped at the offer when the channel approached him. After shooting a mock episode,he showed it to his clients,who loved it and encouraged him to go ahead with the full series.
It is challenging to work on a celebrity hairstyle. A lot of homework is required to get the right look for the characters that the actor plays in a movie or a photo shoot. Once their style is appreciated by the audience,the trust develops, he adds. The show was shot at locations including the actors homes and also gives a peek into their wardrobe,vanity van,photo shoot locations and green rooms. We have captured candid moments of these actors. One of the interesting experiences was when we visited Saifs place. He showed us his room,wardrobe,collection of sunglasses and among other things,also showed us how he cleans his shoes himself with a drop of champagne, he says.
Giving away just a little bit about his plans to bring his magic here,Hakim says,I really liked Koregaon Park to start my venture in Pune. A lot of hotels,including Marriot,are keen to join me in opening my salon here. But,I am still evaluating my plans.
