Stories of an astronaut
It was a thrilling experience to work with NASA as an astronaut. It had always been my dream,and you too can achieve your goals if you put your mind to it,” said Joan Higginbotham,while sharing her NASA adventures with students of MAEER’s MIT. As part of this educational tour,she gave an interesting speech on her life’s journey. In order to motivate and inspire the students,she added,“The young generation should be firm about their future and sure about the career they wish to pursue. Hard work and determination are the key steps towards achieving one’s goals.” Also present at the event was Vishwanath D Karad,founder director,MAEER’s MIT.

Rock on!
They’ve just concluded the first leg of their Jump Start Tour with concerts in Mumbai,Ahmedabad,Indore,and Pune,and now Tungzten is all set to rock the house at Hard Rock Cafe in Koregaon Park on July 15. This band of music lovers has evolved over the years and the members have re-energised and reinvented their music. They started off as a bunch of friends who wanted to get together and play music,and today,they’ve grown,both as friends and musicians. Their new album is in its pre-production stage,and they might allow a sneak peek of it at their show at HRC,starting 8.30 pm.

A dance to remember
The participants sizzled the dance floor at the Symbiosis Vishwabhavan at Senapati Bapat Road at Rocky Poonawala’s 5th Annual Dance Event on July 11. His students enthralled the audience with dance forms like the Latin Mix Basic,Hawaiian Salsa,Rumba and many others. The most touching form was the Rumba,for which Poonawala came up with the concept of ‘Parental Love’,wherein he focused on the issue of children leaving their parents at old age homes instead of caring for them.There was also a tribute paid to Michael Jackson,with a performance of the legend’s unique hip-hop style. Speaking at the event,Poonawala said that he was planning to start a scholarship for his dance school.
