Crowning glory
All roads in the city lead to the Corinthians Club last weekend,which was the venue for Narmada Mr and Miss Pune pageant. The introductory round sequence had 11 girls and men walking down the ramp wearing outfits that were designed by Bharat and Jyothi Rathod. This was followed by other rounds that included the final judges round with five finalists of each category answering questions posed to them. Zeeshan Khan and Sakina Poonawalla were crowned the winners with Prabhakar Kumar and Preshita Bafna,and Vipin Changani and Asa Ferreira finishing as the first and second runners-up respectively. The judges included Vipin Goyal and Sangeeta Johanas among others. In addition the evening also saw a scintillating performance by fire dancer Ella. The show was choreographed by Chaitanya Gokhale.
Act a play
For all those,who have a penchant for the theatrical,Swatantra Theatre will be staging the Hindi play,Zindgi Ke Rang based on Russian writer Anton Chekov’s stories. A combination of short stories it consists of various shades of mind with sprinkles of humour. The story depicts the complex facet of the writer in the play. The conflicts of the writer at penning down his experiences as short stories,itself is an organic story that is woven into the play. A congregation of stories one of them titled Surgery shows how an unexperienced compounder tries to convince the patient who is suffering from pain in his teeth,while Bank Manager is about a man who is suffering from pain in his joints. Directed by Abhijeet Choudhary,the plays will be performed by Aaditya Alankar,Dhanashree,Aaditya Sharma,Kuldip,Amar Sharma,Punit,Kiran and others. It will be held on May 16,9 pm onwards at the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Sanskritik Bhavan,near Sassoon Hospital.
Brave encounters
The National Education Foundation (NEF) will be conducting summer camps in the form of Marshal’s Training Programme that aims to train any one who is willing to work for NEF. As the Enduro3 race is organised by the NEF,the Marshals will be trained accordingly and will be given various responsibilities regarding the same. The NEF will give the participants an opportunity to become a skilled marshal by putting them in an intensive training programme amidst nature and letting them experience the most captivating adventures through a certified Marshal Training Proramme (MTP) Course with disciplines that including Burma Bridge,Treasure Hunt,River Crossing ,Kayaking,Rifle-Shooting,Archery,Mini-Enduro Race,Night Trekking ,Rappelling ,Jumaring and HAM Radio. Mexican Delights
While Mexico is better known for the spicy fare that it dishes out,citizens of the city were exposed to the flavours of the Mexican festival of Cinco De Mayo at the Hard Rock Café during the week-long celebrations held there. The festivity quotient soared with the assortment of Sauza Tequila Margaritas,Sauza Tequila Shots and Mexican food along with sizzling Latin performances and Mariachi musical nights. It commemorated the Latin America celebration where on the fifth day of May every year,people rejoice Cinco de Mayo,celebrating the Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. The ambience at the Hard Rock Café was aptly prepared with drapes in brilliant hues of red,white and green and Mexican flags to compliment them. Serving the guests in Ponchos and Sombreros along with the hanging Ristras completed the look for the festival.
