Hipnotic tunes
Music is all about experimentation,at least for well-known Mumbai-based band Hipnotribe, which is all set to take centrestage at High Spirits,Koregaon Park, tonight. Started in 2008,the band consists of six members – Naresh Kamath on bass, his brother Paresh Kamath on guitar and vocals,Kurt Peters on drums,Sankarshan Kini on guitar, violin and flute,Sanket Atthale on percussions and Abhijit Nalani on the keyboard. With each one being a master of his instrument, the end result is a fusion of different styles and a blend of various rhythms. The band specialises in hip rock, rock funk and fusion music. We never wanted to restrict ourselves as musicians. And that’s why we don’t stick to one genre but experiment with different styles, quips Paresh. The unusual name of the band has caught the attention of fans. Paresh says,It was unanimously decided by all members after mulling over a couple of other options too. Hipnotribe always looks forward to performing in Pune, owing to the pleasant weather and the large student population. And,I love the drive from Mumbai to Pune, the guitarist exclaims, adding,Within a month,we will come out with our debut album.
