Quiet rendezvous
Narrating the real life spiritual experiences of the followers of Avatar Meher Baba, one of his followers Nan Umrigar recently launched her second book— Listening to the Silence in the city. The book was launched by advocate Makrand Adkar of the Supreme Court of India. Adkar along with his wife Yogini have been communicating with his own son who passed away in November last year. “We would not have survived without our son. The scriptures from all the religious books speak about a life after life but we decided to go to Nan after we heard her experiences. And we got the ultimate gift again. Our son was sent back to us,” affirms Adkar giving all credit to Nan for giving them their life back. This is her second book after Sounds of Silence, which was published in 1995. In 1979,Nan’s son Karl,a jockey by profession, ran a race at the Indian Derby. On the last day,the horse he was riding fell in the racing rink crushing Karl’s lungs. After battling with life for the next 18 days,Karl gave in and passed away. “My son did not die,he just went to another world,” believes Nan adding,“It is only through Baba’s love and blessings that my son Karl is still with me.” The event was followed by a mesmerising performance by English musician,Gary Lawyer.
