Class on wheels
The Maharashtra day witnessed a classic procession at fort Jadhavgadh Heritage hotel on Saturday. Over 30 vintage cars and 20 vintage bikes participated in this rally that took place over a stretch of 10 kms from Fort Jadhavgadh to Jejuri. From the most classic models of cars and bikes that included the likes of Rolls Royce,Ford and Porsche,the rally caught eyeballs not only of those present on the occasion but also of the onlookers who were seen clicking photographs of the classic bandwagon. The rally that started at 4.30 pm after being flagged off by Vithal Kamat,chairman,Kamat Hotels ended at 6 in the evening. Addressing the gathering,Kamat says,“The historical structures such as Fort Jadhavgadh need to be preserved and protected to be handed over to the next generation in a way that they carry forward the glory that these monuments represent.”

Symbiosis Institute of Design hosted the SID Design Show 2010 at Ishanya Amphitheatre on Friday. The entertaining programme showcased the work of graduating students across all disciplines. The evening concluded with a fashion show for which students of the Fashion Design section designed 10 fashion collections that were displayed on the ramp by professional models,which included Nethra Raghuraman and Natasha Suri. The unique collections included ideas like ‘Vrindavan’ (inspired by traditions and cultures of Vrindavan),‘Bondezvous’ (taking cue from the stylish Bond girls),‘An Incarnation of a Silhouette’ (motivated by the solar eclipse) and Giggle Pots (a colourful line for preteens based on Indian comics) to name a few. The panel of jury included Somesh Singh of Institute of Apparel Management; Meher Castellano,fashion journalist; Parthasarthi Mitra of Madura Garments; Nachiket Barve and Amrita Thapar. Students were felicitated during an award ceremony.
