Sharad Pawar, Ajit meet again; NCP says top leaders can take merger call
After the meeting as Ajit Pawar left the venue, mediapersons asked if any discussions were held between the three on a merger, however he refused to respond

NCP(SP) chief Sharad Pawar and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar once again met on Sunday at Sakhar Sankul in Pune. Both refused to comment about their parties’ merger with each other.
According to NCP sources, Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar and NCP state chief Jayant Patil held a close-door meeting.
After the meeting as Ajit Pawar left the venue, mediapersons asked if any discussions were held between the three on a merger, however he refused to respond.
When contacted, NCP spokesperson Sanjay Tatkare said, “Speculation has been doing the rounds about a possible merger of the two factions. Only the top leadership of the two parties will comment about it.”
When asked about the merger, Sharad Pawar had recently said his daughter and MP Supriya Sule will take a call after holding discussions with party MLAs and MPs.
On her part, Sule had dismissed any idea of merger. “If anything has to happen, it would be between Ajit Pawar and myself. But Ajit Pawar has already clarified that there is no proposal for a merger. And therefore, I too want to say the same. Everything is in the air,” she had said.
Sule had said her father’s statement was twisted. “He said she has to decide…Whatever he said was an obvious answer…”
