Even as seven new judges have taken charge in the Pune district labour, industrial and family courts this month, judges are yet to be appointed in one courtroom each in family and industrial courts. There are about 5,000 cases pending in the family court and around 1,500 in the industrial court.
Two of the five courtrooms in the family court were vacant for almost a year. While judges V V Shahpurkar and S P Vaidya took charge this month, yet another judge has been recently transferred. Shahpurkar is the new principal judge of the Pune district family court, said advocate Asunta Pardhe.
Similarly, only one of the two courtrooms in the industrial court in Swargate has a full time judge.
