The Shiv Sena is almost finished as a party and is facing an existential crisis, according to Revenue Minister Narayan Rane.
Addressing a press conference at Patrakar Bhavan on Thursday,Rane said, the Sena and MNS are raking up the issue of Marathi manoos just for votebank politics and not for the development of the people. Shiv Sena is not strong enough to stop Rahul Gandhi from coming to Mumbai. If they do any mischief, then we will see how the Sena leaders move around in the city.
Rane said Uddhav Thackeray should stop behaving as if he owns Mumbai. Senas executive president is trying to create issues by making statements like Shiv Sena will not let Mumbai to be separated from Maharashtra. This shows that the Sena is fighting for its survival. Has any leader of the ruling party made any statement saying that Mumbai will be separated? he asked. He said that the issue of Nehru being hounded by people in Mumbai during the Samyukta Maharashtra movement is an old one. The Sena is raking up instances that have no relevance today.
Rane said,The Sena and MNS have maligned the image of Maharashta and Marathi manoos. Do they have any financial plan for the growth of Marathi manoos?
The Sena,a few years ago,had tried expanding their party to other states by rooting on Hindutva and conveniently forgot the Marathi manoos. But when they failed miserably they are now bringing up the issue of Marathi manoos. Observing that these issues will not take the Sena anywhere,Rane said,in 1999,the Sena had 75 MLAs,now they are down to 44.
