See saw: Singh is King

Sikh Jan Sewa Sangh of Pune,Akal Purkh Ki Fauj,Amritsar and Frankfinn are organising auditions for a national Sikh modeling competition titled Mr. Singh International in the city on Sunday. Auditions will take place in 60 cities across the country starting with Pune. The finale will take place at Amritsar in December,before which the finalists will undergo a three-month grooming course which will teach skills related to the Gatka,theatre performance and Gurmat. The contest is only for unshorn Sabat Surat Sikhs and will assess personality,Gurmat,general awareness,skills in martial arts,bhangra,theatre and ramp skills of the participants. The Pune edition will be held at Mahasainik Lawns,opposite National War Memorial,Pune Sub Area,Ghorpadi.

The Twiolins in town

Asad Khan,the new age sitar maestro from Mewati Gharana,Mumbai will perform with the Twiolins Marie-Luise and Christoph Dingler at Mazda Hall,Dastur Primary School,October 1,7pm onwards. Luise and Dingler call themseves ‘The Twiolins’,because their music is based on deep understanding and style,with which they play their entire repertoire,right from baroque to modern music and crossover.
