In an effort to promote rifle shooting,the SEED Gun for Glory Shooting Championship,hosted from September 12 to 18 at the shooting range of Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex,Mhalunge – Balewadi,introduced a special category this year called ‘Fan Shooting’.

Shoot at sight

In an effort to promote rifle shooting,the SEED Gun for Glory Shooting Championship,hosted from September 12 to 18 at the shooting range of Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex,Mhalunge – Balewadi,introduced a special category this year called ‘Fan Shooting’. More than 250 individuals registered themselves for participation in fan shooting on Monday,and over 600 Puneites have visited the championship to try their hand at the sport. Eminent names from the Marathi film industry,including Girish and Umesh Kulkarni,actors – directors of Valu and Deool,and veteran film and TV personality Shrirang Godbole visited the Championship on Setpember 17,to try their hands at rifle shooting. Girish Kulkarni,who is portraying the character of a private detective in his upcoming Marathi flick Pune 52 was particularly excited about the shooting as his character in the film,a detective,is generally associated with a microscope and a gun.

Musical bonanza

Classical Carnatic vocalist Smt. R Vedavalli will perform at NCL,Pashan Road on September 22. Vedavalli is a devout traditionalist, adhering strictly to the sampradaya of classical Carnatic music . She started when she was gifted her first harmonium at age of five. In 2000,she received the Sangita Kalanidhi,considered the highest honour in Carnatic music. She was also a professor of vocal music at Government College of Music,Adyar,Tamil Nadu,having served at the Madras Music Academy for several years. The concert is free for all and will begin at 6 pm.

Encore Enrique

Global music sensation Enrique Iglesias has just confirmed a three-city tour in India in October,travelling to Pune,Delhi and Bangalore. The singer is known for his chartbusters, Hero,Bailamos,Escape,Rhythm Divine,Love To See You Cry,I Like It and Tonight (I’m Loving You). While he has performed in Mumbai and Bangalore earlier in 2004,this will be his first visit to Delhi and Pune. “It’s been a long time since my last tour in India and I have been dying to come back and perform in front of one of the best and craziest crowds in the world!” says Iglesias. The Pune concert will take place at Amanora Park Town on October 17. “Enrique Iglesias is one of the most popular international artists in India and to host his concert at our venue gives us great pleasure,” says Aditya Deshpande,VP,business development ,Amanora Park Town.
