Sanjay Dutt’s furlough extended

Dutt had sought a furlough citing the need for treatment of his leg.

Actor Sanjay Dutt,who is currently out on a 14-day furlough from Yerawada Central Jail,has been granted a 14-day extension. Dutt had sought a furlough citing the need for treatment of his leg.

Deputy Inspector General (West Region) Rajendra Dhamane said,“Dutt’s application for furlough extension has been approved. The decision has been taken based on the medical report,report from the police station and other documents. He had asked for an extension for treatment of his leg.”

Dhamane added,“He was supposed to return to the prison on Wednesday. Now,he will be back on October 30.”

The 53-year-old actor,who had surrendered in May after the Supreme Court’s confirmed his conviction in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts for illegal possession of weapons,is currently serving the remaining 42 months of his five-year sentence.
