Journalism of Courage
The first feature film on Sant Tukaram,the 17th century poet and philosopher,was produced way back in 1936. This year,after a gap of 76 years,his preachings and life story will come alive on the big screen again. In Tukaram,directed by Chandrakant Kulkarni,Sant Tukaram will be brought to life by actor Jeetendra Joshi. Other cast members include actors Radhika Apte,Veena Jaamkar,Sharad Ponkshe,Prateeksha Lonkar and Yatin Karekar. Music director Ashok Patki has teamed up with singer-composer Avadhoot Gupte for the film,while national award-winner Vikram Gaikwad has done the styling for it. Making a biopic on Sant Tukaram has been an enriching experience for the entire cast and crew, says producer Sanjay Chhabria,who has earlier produced films like Mee Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy,Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho and Haapus .
