Rupa Bajaj cremated

The mortal remains of Rupa Bajaj,wife of noted industrialist Rahul Bajaj,chairman,Bajaj Auto were flown in to the city on Friday. The last rites were performed at Vaikunth crematorium at 4.30pm. Rupa Bajaj,74,passed away on Wednesday night at a hospital in Germany,where she was undergoing treatment for a prolonged illness.

Friends,family members and Bajaj employees started visiting the Bajaj family at about 4 pm to offer condolences. Amongst those who attended the funeral were Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar,city MP Suresh Kalmadi,Congress leader Murli Deora,former Union Minister Mohan Dharia,Union Minister for Heavy Industries Praful Patel,Rajya Sabha MP Vandana Chavan,Justice Chandrashekhar Dharmadhikari,Sanjay Kirloskar, chairman of Kirloskar Brothers Ltd,Venugopal Dhoot,chairman of Videocon Industries,Rajkumar Dhoot,Kumar Gera,Scientist Raghunath Mashelkar besides others. Security arrangements were made by the city- police with over 50 policemen deployed in surrounding areas.
