RSS veteran Shripati Shastri dead

Veteran RSS activist Shripati Subrahmanyam Shastri (75) died of heart attack on Saturday. He was known as the Bauddhik Pramukh of RSS.

Veteran RSS activist Shripati Subrahmanyam Shastri (75) died of heart attack on Saturday. He was known as the Bauddhik Pramukh of RSS.

Shastri was suffering from severe diabetis for the last one and a half years. He suffered a massive heart attack at 1 pm on Saturday. Shastri’s body will be kept at RSS’s Motibag office for public to pay homage from 6 am to 10 am on Sunday and will be cremated at Vaikunth crematorium.

Born on June 19,1935 in Harihar village in Mhaisur,Karnataka,he started working for RSS at the age of 13 and became Mhaisur unit secretary in 1956.

He won the gold medal in MA History from Mhaisur University. Shastri came to Pune in 1964 to pursue PhD in Constitutional History. He started working as a professor in Wadia College and retired as the head of the history department of University of Pune.

Shastri has served the RSS as secretary of its Pune city and Maharashtra units. He guided the media division of RSS.
