An invitation to dance at a wedding can be quite a stomach-churning experience. Right from the minute one receives the envelope,a million things race through the head what song to dance to,what clothes to wear; everything needs to be decided well in advance, and then thought and re-thought. But what if you get an invitation from the Queen of England to dance at her grandson’s reception? With the most eagerly anticipated royal wedding in the world, that of Prince William and Kate Middleton, drawing closer and closer,Sandip Soparrkar got the surprise of his life when he was invited to dance at the royal reception. It’s very exciting. I’m still digesting the fact, says a thunderstruck Soparrkar. I had received a letter from the Royal family way back in 2004,praising me for my ballroom dancing abilities, but I have never met them,so this invitation is amazing. Soparrkar, who has sent a list of 16 songs to Buckingham Palace, which will then be shortened to three, says he will perform an authentic waltz at the ceremony. But the background score will be a Bollywood track, he says with a smile.
