A robbery bid was foiled by alert citizens at a jewellery shop in Bhosari. Four armed robbers barged into the Solanki jewellery shop on Dighi Road in Bhosari,said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone III),Mahesh Patil. Just as they took out their weapons the shopowner Ashok Sadanand Solanki (46) and his staff raised an alarm.
Soon,passersby rushed to their aid and pelted stones at the robbers who opened fire injuring Solanki.
Two robbers were nabbed by the people and handed over to the police. Two other robbers managed to escape. Solanki was admitted to a private hospital for treatment. The Bhosari police arrested Vijay Dilip Tarya (32),a resident of Khadki and Prakash Bankar (19) of Alandi Devachi in the evening.
Tarya is the son of a railway police officer and has earlier been booked for murder and robbery. Banker is a vehicle thief on police record.
